Richland, WAA class action lawsuit filed on behalf of Lamb Weston workers in the state of Washington claims that the company failed to provide rest periods and meal breaks. The lawsuit is asking for at least an estimated $14 million, including attorney fees. Lamb Weston, which produces frozen potatoes and other food, is accused of a systematic scheme of wage and hour abuses against its hourly workers in Washington.

For the second spring in a row the city of Kennewick has detected a “forever chemical” in its drinking water that is above the action level set by the Washington state Board of Health. The Washington state Department of Health recommends that Kennewick city customers who are pregnant, breastfeeding or mixing infant formula with tap water consider using another source of water.

After leading Pacific Northwest National Laboratory in Richland for a decade, Steven Ashby plans to step aside, PNNL announced Monday. Ashby was named director of the Department of Energy lab in 2015 and oversees the lab’s $1.6 billion research budget and about 6,400 employees. Battelle, which holds the DOE contract to manage and operate PNNL, is the Tri-Cities largest single employer.

When the nonprofit MCBONES Research Center, which is unearthing mammoth bones near Kennewick, needed help with a large and fragile bone, it called Kadlec Regional Medical Center.
