This week is starting off much quieter compared to the active weather we saw across the San Antonio area last week. Typical summer-like conditions will settle in over the next few days, with hot temperatures, high humidity and low rain chances. For much of the week, it'll be great weather to spend time outdoors, relax by the pool, or fire up the grill - just remember to stay hydrated.

This week, we eclipsed that total in just a few hours, as 6.37 inches of rain was measured from late Wednesday through Thursday morning at San Antonio International Airport, the city's official weather observation site.

We absolutely needed the rain, but that was too much at one time. Extremely slow-moving thunderstorms moved across South Central Texas overnight and into the early morning hours on Thursday. At times, storms became stationary, dropping upwards of 2 to 3 inches of rain per hour over already-soaked regions. Some of the heaviest rainfall fell over Bexar County.
