Anthony Slaughter has been re-elected as the leader of the Wales Green Party following a ballot of party members. Winning 63% of the vote, Slaughter defeated the only challenger for the position Debra Cooper. Slaughter was first elected as leader of the Wales Green Party in 2018. He was re-elected in 2021.

Members of the Green Party of England and Wales are currently meeting in Manchester for their autumn conference. At the conference, one of the keynote speaking slots was given to the leader of the Wales Green Party Anthony Slaughter. Slaughter used his speech to talk up the Greens’ chances of winning their first representatives in the Senedd in 2026.

Anthony SlaughterAnthony Slaughter was elected Wales Green Party (WGP) Leader / Spokesperson in December 2018, having previously served as Deputy Leader in 2014 and 2015. He has been an active WGP member and campaigner both locally, in Cardiff and the Vale of Glamorgan, and nationally across Wales. He lives in Penarth, just outside Cardiff, where he works as a garden designer.

Members of the Wales Green Party are meeting in Cardiff this weekend for their autumn conference. The party’s leader, Anthony Slaughter, kicked off the event with a keynote speech. Slaughter used his speech to set out the party’s big electoral ambitions in the coming years. Starting by discussing the coming general election for Westminster – due to take place by January 2025 at the latest – Slaughter said the Wales Green Party would “fight our biggest and boldest general election [campaign] yet”.
