    The City of Chico sent out seven-day notices to homeless residents in the second half of Depot Park on Wednesday. The city cleared the first half of the park two weeks ago. Depot Park is the last major homeless encampment in the city. Chico Public Works Director Erik Gustafson said the city planned on clearing the camp in two phases. Around 20 people were assessed for shelters on the western side of the park. Local businesses have been urging the city to take action for months now.

"Some of the best peaches you'll find around," said Chris Putz, a crop technician at the university owned farm. "Today was so chaotic, it might only be one day." Putz was right, as the farm ran out of peaches after being open for only four hours, forcing them to cancel tomorrow's event.

    Habitat for Humanity is building new homes in the city of Chico. The Chico Planning Commission met with Habitat for Humanity to build single-family homes in the city’s historic Chapman Town neighborhood. The three-acre parcel of land is going to be on the north side of Wisconsin Street bordering Little Chico Creek. Back in July, Habitat for Humanity received a $1 million grant from the state to build eight to ten homes per year for Camp Fire survivors living in Paradise and Chico.

    Firefighters in the City of Chico have packed their bags and are headed to Siskiyou County to fight the Happy Camp Complex fires. As a part of interagency cooperation, firefighters in the city volunteered to help Cal Fire and the U.S. Forest Service in fighting the fires which sparked over the weekend. KRCR spoke to a Chico Fire Battalion Chief downtown Monday, who is proud of the work that his men and women continue to do at home and across the Northstate.

    Residents are concerned for the environment after a canal breach dumped Butte Creek with allegedly harmful sediments. A clear creek, now orange. One of the region’s greatest natural wonders is Butte Creek, flowing for miles through most of Butte County until it meets with the Sacramento River. Last Thursday, a section of Butte Canal breached, dumping piles of sediment into the creek and turning it a bright orange color.
