OROVILLE, Calif. — An Oregon resident, Isai Rivera, was arrested after making 14 calls to 911 and evading police, according to the Oroville Police Department (OPD). The incident began around 3 p.m. on Friday when Rivera, who only spoke Spanish, repeatedly called the emergency line without stating the nature of his emergency. Police said that Rivera was connected to a translator through the language line, but continued to hang up, placing approximately 14 calls within an hour.

CHICO, Calif. — The Butte Humane Society hosted its annual Woofstock Festival at the Silver Dollar Fairgrounds on Saturday, aimed to raise funds for the nonprofit's shelter animalsThe event drew animal lovers together with live music, local vendors, demonstrations by Ridgeside K-9 NorCal, and more. OROVILLE, Calif. — The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) has postponed its road rehabilitation project on State Route 162, also known as Oro Dam Boulevard, until the summer of 2026. The $36 million project, initially slated to begin this spring, covers the stretch of highway from Feather River to Foothill boulevards. The road is visibly deteriorated, and Oroville City Councilor Shawn Webber said multiple residents, including himself, have sustained damage to their vehicles.

CHICO, Calif. — Fire-prevention goats are making their return to Chico's Lindo Channel for the next few weeks as part of an effort to reduce fire risk. The goats, provided by Capra Environmental Services Corporation, will graze the area to reduce vegetation, otherwise known as fire fuel, and create defensible space for homes on both sides of the channel between Highway 99 and Manzanita Avenue.
