New details were released after a man was arrested over the weekend for allegedly abusing his 6-year-old stepson in Miami. Zachary Perez, 42, was charged with aggravated child abuse with great bodily harm after his arrest on Saturday. According to the Miami-Dade Sheriff's Office, Perez struck the victim with a closed face several times. An arrest report said Perez then put a collar on the child and yanked him until he fell backward to the ground.

Miami and Fort Pierce may be about 140 miles apart, but they are linked. By garbage. Every day, Miami-Dade County sends 230 tons of its least savory export north on trains to a transfer station in Fort Pierce, where trucks take the trash to landfills. "This is 20,000 flies," said Edward Koch, showing us one of the fly traps hanging from a tree in his yard. "I was changing them every two days."Koch lives in a neighborhood a few hundred yards away from the railway yard.

A Palmetto Senior High School student was arrested for bringing a stun gun to school and allegedly zapping it toward other students, police said. Deja Iman Williams, 19, was arrested at the school Tuesday after police said she intentionally brought the stun gun to school, displayed it, and "squeezed it, demonstrating the electric shock in front of classmates," an arrest report said.
