Teachers at an Ipswich secondary school are set to go on strike over bad student behaviour. Staff at Westbourne Academy who are members of the National Education Union (NEU) will stage a walkout tomorrow and Wednesday morning. Paul McLaughlin, regional secretary for the NEU, said the strikes came following a ‘long standing failure’ by the school to ensure that poor behaviour was managed effectively. A picket line will gather outside the school from 7.30am to 9.30am.

More than £22,000 has been raised as part of a mammoth 300 mile bike ride between two British nuclear sites. A team of 15 cyclists rode from Hinkley Point C, in Somerset, to Sizewell C, near Leiston, over four days to raise awareness of suicide in the construction sector. The cyclists hoped to proactively encourage people to open up and break down stigma in what is one of the sectors with the highest suicide rate in Britain.

More plans have been lodged to install ‘digital binoculars’ for use in augmented reality trails set to come to Ipswich later this year. Ipswich Borough Council is hoping to place the installations outside Paul’s silo, in St Peter’s Wharf, at the waterfront. If approved, they would be available for use by passers-by and would provide content relating to the town’s rich maritime history. This follows a separate application last month, where plans for four more binoculars were submitted.

A cyclist has suffered head injuries after being knocked to the ground and punched in an attack near Bury St Edmunds last week. The victim, a man in his 40s, was riding his bike from Thurston when he tried to cross the road in Sow Lane, Rougham, at 8.30am on Wednesday. After he did this, he was shouted at by a man and woman with a dog, who said he nearly hit them. The man then ran up to the cyclist before knocking him to the floor and punching him on the head five times.
