A renewed appeal has been made for residents of a Bury St Edmunds estate to support a funding bid to replace an axed shuttle bus service. Last Tuesday, SuffolkNews reported on a £234,000 funding request made to Suffolk County Council to replace the Marham Park Flyer.

Lane closures will be in place on the Orwell Bridge tonight ahead of seven weeks of work later this month. National Highways has warned that one lane in both directions on the A14, between junction 56 at Wherstead and junction 57 at Nacton Interchange, will be in place from 8pm today until 6am tomorrow. The closure will allow teams to carry out surveys.

An Ipswich RAF veteran has joined the force’s leading welfare charity to share his experiences of how it changed his life after he was medically discharged from service. Neil Fellingham, 36, served in the RAF for 12 and a half years as a weapons technician before he suffered a broken leg, with complications, in a car accident.

A mental health charity has opened up its annual colour run event to more people than ever this year. Suffolk Mind expects its 2025 Colour Rush event, in Trinity Park, Ipswich, on October 4, will raise more than £25,000 this year. The charity is doubling its capacity this year to allow for 1,000 people to be doused in colour on its 1.5 or 3 kilometre courses.

An MP has welcomed news that five schools in Ipswich are set for urgent repairs after receiving a share of hundreds of million of pounds in funding. On Friday, SuffolkNews reported that the Government had allocated £1.2 billion for upgrades to schools across England – including Suffolk. In total, £470 million of this cash would go to schools, with 19 in Suffolk set for a share of the pot. Jack Abbott, MP for Ipswich, said he had long campaigned for upgrades to schools in the town.
