Renowned for his love of flying, inventing and for being an enthusiastic pilot overseeing trips for hundreds of people on a hot air balloon, dreams became reality as Ernie Woolnough was honoured with a "unique" flight. Mr Woolnough, who will be 95 next Tuesday, was given an early birthday treat as he took to the skies once more on Sunday - enjoying a flight in aSpitfire across the region.

Keen gardener Allen Pettit, 88, is enjoying having his hands in the soil again thanks to the new accessible garden that has been created by a Lowestoft-area care home. Reuniting Mr Pettit with his love of growing, the new area has been adapted at The Dell Care Home on Cotmer Road in Oulton Broad - and it has greatly improved his mental and physical wellbeing. Mr Pettit moved to the home in December 2024 after a spinal condition led to a gradual loss of mobility.

The swift response and courageous actions of the two senior adult volunteers from the Beccles and Lowestoft Sea Cadets has been hailed after they rescued the woman who had got into difficulties. The drama unfolded during a routine training exercise on the River Waveney, near Beccles Lido, on Tuesday evening.

And Lowestoft artist and restaurateur Desmond Baldry has now seen his work take pride of place in Parliament. Mr Baldry visited Westminster to catch a glimpse of his striking painting of Lowestoft Harbour, which is now being proudly displayed in the parliamentary office of the town's MP Jess Asato. The painting showcases a stunning view of the harbour taken from the parish church tower.
