The Fort Wayne Zoo announced Thursday it is now a recognized Certified Autism Center – a distinction held by few places statewide. The International Board of Credentialing and Continuing Education Standards awards the designation, which recognizes organizations that have completed an autism-specific training and certification program through the credentialing board, a news release said.

NEW HAVEN – The East Allen County Schools board decided in a split vote Tuesday to contract with a Fort Wayne nonprofit that equips students with nonviolence and conflict resolution skills. The plan with Alive Community Outreach will cost $870,050 over three years, with New Haven High School set to pilot Peacemaker elements next academic year with expansion eyed for additional schools later.
