An $80,000 donation will keep a case manager for homeless students on staff at Fort Wayne Community Schools for another year. The school board on Monday approved the one-year contribution from the United Way of Allen County. The money covers the salary and fringe benefits of one person for the next academic year. The position – which helped 116 students this school year – was originally supported by federal coronavirus relief dollars.

About 200 students from three Fort Wayne Community elementary schools will perform together this week on a college stage. The 6:30 p.m. Wednesday concert at Purdue University Fort Wayne won’t be the first time the Forest Park, South Wayne and Waynedale students will show off their musical talents honed through the Fort Wayne Philharmonic’s Club Orchestras program, which comprises Club O and Club Kid-O.

More than $200,000 in grant dollars is destined for career and technical education programs in two northeast Indiana counties. The Metropolitan School District of Steuben County and Adams Central High School in Adams County are among 11 statewide recipients of a grant that supports the implementation of career programs in high-demand fields, the Indiana Commission for Higher Education announced Wednesday.

Two more Bishop Luers High School students have joined a lawsuit accusing officials of failing to act on reported sexual exploitation, bringing the total to nine, according to a new filing in Allen Superior Court. Lawyers representing the unnamed female students – six minors and three who are now adults – filed an amended, 49-page complaint Monday against the school, the Diocese of Fort Wayne-South Bend and four school administrators, including one at the diocesan level.
