One or two isolated showers are possible late Wednesday into early Thursday morning as a weak cold frontal boundary pushes south across NE Indiana and NW Ohio. Overnight lows bottom out right near 50 degrees. Cloud coverage sticks around for a slightly cooler morning on Thursday, but we begin to see a clearing sky by the afternoon with highs in the lower 60s.
Komets dominate Heartlanders 6-1 to force Game 7

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WFFT) -- The Fort Wayne Komets defeated the Iowa Heartlanders 6-1 on Sunday night to win Game 6 and tie their division semifinal series in the Kelly Cup playoffs. Alex Aleardi opened the scoring 14 minutes into the game with his fourth goal of the series. Iowa earned a power play late in the first period, but Nolan Volcan scored a man-down goal with less than two minutes left to double their lead at the intermission.

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WFFT) -- For the 2nd consecutive year, the National Wheelchair Basketball Association championships have returned to Fort Wayne. The 2025 NWBA Women's and Military division championships began Friday at Turnstone's Plassman Athletic Center. Over four hundred athletes are expected to compete this weekend with a total of 24 teams participating.

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WFFT) -- Cloud coverage increases Thursday morning, leaving us mostly cloudy by the afternoon. We also warm up on Thursday with afternoon temperatures reaching the mid 60s and overnight temperatures remaining in the 50s. A couple of pop-up showers are possible Thursday night, but greater rain chances arrive Friday. Scattered showers and thunderstorms are possible early Friday morning, with an additional chance for thunderstorms.
Leo Elementary School wins statewide math competition

LEO, Ind. (WFFT) -- When Michelle Rodgers learned that Leo Elementary School was named state champions of the Prodigy State challenge, the school's principal said it seemed too good to be true. "When I got the email at first I thought, 'is this fake?' I had to do some more research to make sure that it was indeed real!"Leo Elementary was awarded the Indiana state championship for the month of March. The math challenge is hosted through Prodigy Education and names one champion per state each month.
Indiana Tech tops Madonna in top ten NAIA lacrosse matchup

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WFFT) -- #8 Indiana Tech men's lacrosse pulled off a comeback victory over #5 Madonna, 17-11, on Senior Night at Warrior Athletic Field. Madonna opened the game with four straight goals, before Indiana Tech found two man-down goals in less than 20 seconds to close the first quarter. Madonna took a 5-2 lead early in the second quarter, but the Warriors then scored 5 straight goals to take the lead. Indiana Tech built a 10-7 lead by halftime.
Five new measles cases confirmed in Allen County

FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WFFT) – The Allen County Heath Department has confirmed 5 additional cases of measles within the county. This includes 3 unvaccinated minors and 2 adults of unknown vaccinated status. All of the sick patients are recovering. This now makes 6 measles cases in Allen County this year after one case was confirmed earlier this week. The Health Department says that all six cases are related, but that no links have been found to separate outbreaks in other parts of the country.
