    WINNESHIEK COUNTY, Iowa (KWWL) -- Iowa Attorney General Brenna Bird has filed a lawsuit against Winneshiek County Sheriff Dan Marx, alleging that he violated Iowa's sanctuary county law. Sheriff Marx on Facebook on February 4 saying that he would not honor federal immigration detainer requests if they aren't backed by a court order or a warrant.

Sexual abuse charges filed against Matthew Pothoff when he was 17 have resurfaced, with the public questioning his ability to become a law enforcement officer. Pothoff was never convicted of the charges, which were permanently dismissed.

    ALTOONA, Iowa (KWWL) -- The Iowa Racing and Gaming Commission held a meeting in Altoona on Thursday where they voted to approve a gaming license in Linn County for the proposed Cedar Crossing Casino in Cedar Rapids. Members of the commission that voted in favor of approving the project pointed out that the new casino would bring in more revenue for the state and for the City of Cedar Rapids.

    DUBUQUE, Iowa (KWWL) -- The Dubuque County Attorney's Office has cleared two police officers of wrongdoing in an officer-involved-shooting on Christmas Eve last year. Attorney Scott Nelson cleared Dubuque Police Officers Dylan Doerges and Stephanie Wehr following an investigation. That investigation shows the responding officers encountered a 16-year-old with a knife. They demanded the teen drop the knife three times.
