WATERLOO --- Fire destroyed a garage at a Waterloo home on Thursday morning. Crews with Waterloo Fire Rescue were called to 619 E. Donald St. and found heavy flames coming from the detached garage. The fire was starting to spread to the house. Firefighters saved the house, but the garage was a total loss. The resident wasn't home at the time, and the cause hasn't been determined. CONRAD — The former director of Conrad Main Street and treasurer for the Southwest Grundy County Emergency Services Association has been sentenced to probation for stealing from both organizations. On Monday, Judge Andrea Dryer sentenced Krista Lyn Grant, 49, to up to 29 years in prison for charges of first-, second- and third-degree theft and credit card fraud in Grundy County District Court.
