Portage native Carson Hocevar has been fined $50,000 by his NASCAR team for comments he made about Mexico City prior to the last Sunday’s Cup Series race in Mexico. During a Twitch livestream on Friday, June 13, he called Mexico City a “s---hole,” among other critical comments about the experience in Mexico City. He went on to have a rough weekend on track, finishing 34th and spinning out Ricky Stenhouse Jr. for the second time in three weeks.

BROOKLYN, MI – Last Sunday’s NASCAR Cup Series race at Michigan International Speedway was the best race of 2025 and the best MIS race in the last 10 years, according to a poll. Nearly 26,000 people voted in the weekly poll from The Athletic’s Jeff Gluck. About 92.2% of fans voted “yes” to the weekly question, “Was it a good race?” Gluck has been doing the poll for every race since 2016. The previous high for a Michigan race was 90.7% in 2022.

BROOKLYN, MI – For the second day in a row, Carson Hocevar was leading at his home track in the final laps. And had a flat tire ruin his day. Hocevar was leading with 19 laps to go during Sunday’s NASCAR Cup Series race at Michigan International Speedway when his left rear tire went down. He didn’t crash, but was forced to pit. The Portage native finished 29th after leading a career-high 32 laps. Hocevar would have been the first Michigan-born driver to ever win a Cup race at MIS.
