    Donning a black cowboy hat and a cowboy-themed firesuit, Portage native Carson Hocevar celebrated his first career NASCAR Cup Series pole position on Saturday, May 3. Hocevar clocked a lap of 28.175 seconds around the 1.5-mile Texas Motor Speedway, averaging 191.659 mph. William Byron qualified second, 0.014 seconds behind. Hocevar is driving the No. 77 Chili’s “Ride the ‘Dente” Chevrolet on Sunday.

    Michigan racer Carson Hocevar was making a bold, three-wide pass for the lead in the final corner of the NASCAR Cup Series race Sunday, Feb. 23, when a caution flag ended the race early. Upon replay review, NASCAR determined Christopher Bell was the winner, as he was in the lead when the caution flew. Hocevar finished second – his best career finish – while Kyle Larson finished third in Sunday’s Atlanta Motor Speedway race.

    BROOKLYN, MI – A simple spin turned into a barrel-rolling nightmare for Corey LaJoie at Michigan International Speedway earlier this week – and now, NASCAR is making a change in hopes of preventing more cars from going airborne. NASCAR is mandating teams add a right side rear-window air deflector, starting this week at Daytona International Speedway. After wind-tunnel testing, NASCAR determined this will help aerodynamics so a car is less likely to lift off the ground during a spin.
