EL PASO, Texas (KVIA) -- A total of 15 student athletes from El Paso headed to Austin, Texas to compete in the UIL Track and Field State meet. Starting in Class 5A, EL Paso's Miles Westbrook won the 3200-meter to become a state champ. Westbrook later competed in the 1600-meter and claimed silver. America's Diego Romero finished in third. El Dorado's Miguel Chapa finished in second in the 400-meter. The Chapin girls 4x200 meter relay finished in 4th, just one spot from landing on the podium.

The Chihuahuas have won two of the five games in the series. Trailing 2-1 in the sixth, Mike Brosseau hit a game-tying solo home run to left field. It was Brosseau’s third homer of the season and second of the series.

The Miners (22-27, 10-16 CUSA) struggled to find offensive rhythm, tallying four hits across seven innings while leaving seven runners stranded. Middle Tennessee (25-27, 12-14 CUSA) jumped ahead early and added key insurance runs in the middle innings to secure the series victory.

In District 1-6A, Eastlake gets swept by the Trinity Trojans with a final score 4-2 in game two. In 5A, the Chapin Huskies took a tough loss to Amarillo. They fell in game two 15-6 putting an end to their season. In 4A, the Riverside Rangers faced the Andrews Mustangs.
