CARTER COUNTY, Tenn. (WJHL) — A Carter County jury has reached a verdict in the trial for brothers Jacob and Joshua Hitchcock, who are accused of murdering their father, William “Bill” Hitchcock. The jury reached a verdict on Wednesday morning. The jury found both Joshua and Jacob Hitchcock guilty of first-degree murder and conspiracy to commit first-degree murder. Jacob Hitchcock was also found guilty of tampering with evidence. A sentencing hearing for the brothers was set for Aug. 20.

CARTER COUNTY, Tenn. (WJHL) — One of the two brothers accused of killing his father in Carter County took the stand on the fifth day of the trial Friday. Jacob and Joshua Hitchcock have each been charged with first-degree murder in the 2023 death of their father, William “Bill” Hitchcock. Bill Hitchcock was found dead on his property by fishermen on the Watauga River, and an autopsy report determined he had been shot three times.

(WJHL) — A Tennessee couple who lost everything after Hurricane Helene were reunited with an item they thought was lost forever. “We thought it’s [their home] out in the middle of nowhere,” Michael Young said. “It’s nice and quiet, it’s peaceful and it’s a good place to retire. So we moved out there and living there when the flood came along. Michael and Sandra Young were living in Greeneville when floodwaters swept their home away, taking all their belongings with it.
