A woman who put her fatigue down to work stress was diagnosed with colon cancer - and is hoping to raise £30k for life-saving treatment in Germany. Karen Kennerley, 57, went to her GP when her tiredness continued who ran a full blood count test - which came back normal. She was referred for a FIT test and colonoscopy - which revealed a tumour. The former teacher, from Lytham St Annes, was initially told it was benign but biopsies revealed she had stage three colon cancer.

A man from Manchester believed he was suffering from altitude sickness while climbing a volcano, only to discover he had the same type of brain tumour as TV presenter Davina McCall. Holidaying in Ecuador and suffering from what seemed a severe migraine during his climb, 38-year-old Mike Wild initially dismissed it as a symptom of the high altitude. However, as the pain worsened, Mike was forced to seek urgent medical attention at a local hospital, where scans revealed a colloid cyst in his brain.

John Hawkins, 66, chose to end his life on September 27, 2024, after an 18-month battle with MND. His dad was also diagnosed with MND - motor neurone disease - and had a "nasty fall" after his diagnosis. John was scared that he wouldn't be well enough to fly over to Switzerland so he decided to fly over there sooner than he thought.
