Bill and Elaine Markham have been making maple syrup at the Mill Brook Sugarhouse on New Lenox Road for 46 years. They use reverse osmosis to take out 75 percent of the water and an oil boiler to bring the sap to syrup. The earliest runs tend to yield lighter syrup. The first run of 2025 used about 3,000 gallons of sap. Purchase photos here.

PITTSFIELD — Skaters of all levels enjoy the rink at the Boys & Girls Club of the Berkshires. During the winter season, open skating sessions are offered on Sundays and during school vacation. This year the Boys and Girls Club of the Berkshires completed a renovation of the rink. In October of 2024, the club installed new boards and glass on the third-floor skating rink. The rink officially closes for the season on Sunday, but will open again in October.
