Georgetown women’s basketball (11-18, 4-14 BIG EAST) dropped another close contest against the Providence Friars (13-18, 5-13 BIG EAST) 66-62 on Mar. 1. After an early 14-0 run put the Friars up, the Hoyas led by graduate guard Kelsey Ransom, just didn’t have enough to close the gap and finish the job on Senior Night for the Hoyas. No way to sugarcoat it, the Hoyas got off a rough start in this one.

Georgetown men’s basketball (16-11, 7-9 BIG EAST) lost by double digits to the Creighton Bluejays (19-8, 12-4 BIG EAST) 80-69 on Feb. 23. While graduate guard Micah Peavy was stellar in the first half, neither he nor the rest of the Hoyas were able to keep pace in the second.

Georgetown women’s basketball (11-14, 4-10 BIG EAST) lost big versus the No. 24/25 Creighton Bluejays (21-4, 13-1 BIG EAST) 70-48 on Feb. 15. After the Hoyas gave the Bluejays some fits early, the senior-laden Bluejays roster rose up and took down the Hoyas on Creighton’s senior night. In a game that started out as a defensive battle, graduate guard Kelsey Ransom owned the first quarter of play.

Georgetown women’s basketball (11-11, 4-7 BIG EAST) won in impressive fashion versus the Xavier Musketeers (6-17, 1-11 BIG EAST) 63-36 on Feb. 5. Allowing their fewest points against a Division I opponent all-season, the Hoyas dominated the woeful Musketeers on the road from start to finish. In a game that was never really close, the Hoyas came out of the gates firing, with a triple by freshman guard Khadee Hession to open the scoring.

Georgetown men’s basketball (13-8, 4-6 BIG EAST) was completely unwatchable in a blowout loss to the No. 15 St. John’s Red Storm (18-3, 9-1 BIG EAST) at Capital One Arena on Jan. 28. With the Hoyas on a 1-5 skid and in desperate need of a win, they put up no fight in an embarrassing loss to their conference rival. It’s never easy to beat a top-15 team in the country, especially one that stands atop your conference in wins.

Georgetown men’s basketball (12-5, 3-3 BIG EAST) lost to the St. John’s Red Storm (15-3, 6-1 BIG EAST) 63-58 on Jan. 14 at Madison Square Garden. In one of the Hoyas’ last chances to pick up a marquee win, they once again could not hang on to a double-digit lead, turning the ball over 19 times as a team. In a game that both teams needed to perform well in, each side gave their best punch. For Georgetown, it represented a chance to keep their NCAA Tournament hopes alive and avoid a three-game skid.

Georgetown men’s basketball (12-2, 3-0 BIG EAST) snuck by the Xavier Musketeers (9-6, 1-3 BIG EAST) 69-63 at Capital One Arena on Jan. 3. Despite leading for most of the game, the Hoyas once again had to battle down to the wire to earn their 3-0 start in conference. That’s right…your Georgetown Hoyas, undefeated in conference play.
