A newcomer to the annual Paradise Jam will be the top seed for the 2025 edition of the U.S. Virgin Islands’ major men’s college basketball tournament. Yale’s Bulldogs earned the No. 1 seed for this year’s tournament, officials with Paradise Jam organizers Basketball Travelers Inc. revealed Thursday. The Bulldogs are one of five new teams playing in the 2025 tournament — scheduled for Friday, Nov. 21, through Monday, Nov.

The last time Victor Montagliani was in the U.S. Virgin Islands, it was to witness the dedication of the only FIFA-certified soccer field in the Caribbean. Now, nearly six years after that visit, the head of one of international soccer’s biggest regional governing bodies returned to the territory Thursday — and it was obvious to Montagliani that a lot of work has taken place over the span. “We talked about football,” Montagliani said in an exclusive interview with The Daily News.

The leader of one of the world’s biggest regional soccer governing bodies will pay an official visit to the U.S. Virgin Islands later this week. Victor Montagliani, president of the Confederation of North and Central America and Caribbean Association Football — commonly referred to as CONCACAF — will be among the officials visiting St. Croix on Thursday as part of a tour through the territories.

A newcomer to the U.S. Virgin Islands’ horse racing scene came away with the territory’s biggest trophy during the 2025 St. Thomas Carnival Races. “Floki’s Flight,” making its debut with Most Wanted Stables and trainer Rasharn Creque, won the Governor’s Cup feature Friday afternoon at the Clinton E. Phipps Sr. Race Track.

Aliyah Boston hasn’t been happier to begin a new season in the WNBA since she was drafted No. 1 overall by the Indiana Fever in 2023. The St. Thomas native and two-time WNBA All-Star enters her third season with the Fever with some familiar faces returning — and a lot more new faces on the roster and the sidelines. “I’m excited — I think having a fresh start, in a sense, has been really great for us,” Boston said Wednesday during the team’s Media Day in Indianapolis.
