Launched in January 1999, the VI Source is the first and only daily online newspaper for the U.S. Virgin Islands. It quickly established itself as the "news publication of record" for the region. Remarkably, it gained popularity right from the start, even though high-speed internet was not available on the islands for several years after its inception.
