    Brazos County commissioners decline a $500,000 grant from the Texas General Land Office (GLO). The grant, requiring no local match, was to pay for a drainage project on three streets in the Benchley community. County staff told commissioners that road and bridge employees can start next week replacing culverts and repaving streets. The county’s cost of materials was estimated at $50,000 dollars.

Leasing begins in the fall of 2026.     College Station ISD school board members held a special meeting Tuesday (May 27) in part to hire a new principal. Southwood Valley elementary assistant principal Dawn Newton was selected to be the new principal at Rock Prairie elementary. Newton, who spent the last five years at Southwood Valley as part of a 21 year career in CSISD, thanked her family and board members.

    Texas A&M announces a public private partnership will lead to the construction of a senior housing complex. The Houston based private company Varcity says on its website says that opening in the fall of 2027 in the Century Square area will be a combination of villas, townhomes, and one, two, and three bedroom flats for those who are 55 and older.
