NEWPORT NEWS, Va. — The headquarters of Fort Eustis' Army Training and Doctrine Command in Newport News is moving to Texas. The directive is part of a broad reorganization effort laid out in a memo by U.S. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth. “Having a whole bunch of headquarters doesn’t make things go faster, I would argue that, you know, that streamlining that will help," said General Randy George, the Army chief of staff.

NORFOLK, Va. — Inflation showed signs of cooling last month, according to new data from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics — but a local economist says the relief may be short-lived. The Consumer Price Index (CPI) rose 0.2% in April on a seasonally adjusted basis, down slightly from March. That brings the annual inflation rate to 2.3%, the lowest it's been since 2021.

NORFOLK, Va. — The Hampton Roads Workforce Council updated on Thursday its efforts and resources to assist recently laid-off federal workers in our area. In the last month, the organization says it's dealt with a trickle of new claims for recently laid-off federal workers in Hampton Roads. One month ago, around 100 recently laid-off federal workers, mainly from the Department of Defense, reached out to the Hampton Roads Workforce Council for resources.
