Martin was accused of making threats to others, and he turned himself in after a warrant was issued Thursday.

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Memphis Tigers men’s head basketball coach Penny Hardaway has been named to the 2025 Werner Ladder Naismith Men's College Coach of the Year Watch List presented by AXIA Time. The University of Memphis coach and alum is one of 15 coaches named to the list, and the only coach from the American Athletic Conference (AAC).
Hardaway is in his seventh year as head coach. The Tigers set at 21-5 overall for the year and are currently ranked No. 22 in the nation.

MEMPHIS, Tenn — Some IRS workers in Memphis have reportedly been fired, ABC24 learned Thursday. ABC24 has heard from employees who said many employees learned they were fired starting last week, and the terminations continued Thursday, Feb. 20, 2025. One employee at the IRS Service Center on Getwell Rd. told ABC24 that she received an email notifying her of her termination and to turn in her IRS belongings, including her computer, to her immediate director.

Memphis Police officials said the crash happened before 10:45 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 19, 2025, along southbound I-240 at Norris Rd. An MFD spokesperson said the crash involved one of its ambulances, and one firefighter-paramedic was taken to the hospital in non-critical condition.

The motion asks the judge to dismiss the civil lawsuit for failure to state a claim. The city’s attorneys argue in the filing that Wells’ allegations against the city and its officials do not meet the legal standard to continue.

MEMPHIS, Tenn. — Southaven Police officers arrested a DeSoto County teacher who they said made “inappropriate comments” towards a student. Southaven PD officials said Stephen Tyler Hart was arrested Feb. 18, 2025, and charged with two counts of child exploitation. Investigators said the arrest happened after police received a complaint the day before against Hart, whom they identified as a teacher at DeSoto Central Middle School.
