They signed Northeastern goaltender Cameron Whitehead after posting a .909 save percentage as a sophomore. They nabbed Michigan forward Jackson Hallum after a 17-point junior season. GRAND FORKS โ Sam Laurila was passed over in last year's NHL Draft. That's unlikely to happen again. Laurila, a defenseman from Moorhead who plays for the Fargo Force in the United States Hockey League, is No. 65 in the NHL Central Scouting Bureau's final 2025 draft rankings. GRAND FORKS — Every time Kaleb Johnson took a stride walking this fall, he felt pain in his right hip. When UND's senior goaltender skated, his hip sometimes gave out. "I couldn't do certain movements in net without aggravating pain," Johnson said. After practice, he'd return home and lie in bed for two hours waiting for the pain to subside. He was unable to sleep through the night. "It was constant torture I was dealing with," Johnson said.
