GRAND FORKS — Weston Olson's week didn't start off great. He had motor issues in his sprint car last Sunday while racing at Huset's Speedway in Brandon, S.D. The 17-year-old drove home to Warren, Minn., and diagnosed the issue. He pulled the motor out on Monday, drove 600 miles to his engine builder in Newton, Iowa, and dropped it off. He spent Monday night in South Dakota and drove home Tuesday.

He coached China to its first victory at the Olympic Games. And he put St. Cloud State into the national rankings, setting a school wins record. Now, he's got a new building project. Idalski was named the first head coach of the Vancouver franchise in the Professional Women's Hockey League on Monday.

Jun. 20—GRAND FORKS — Former UND star Jonathan Toews will make his return to hockey with his hometown team. Toews is expected to sign a one-year contract with the Winnipeg Jets on July 1, the opening of free agency. AdvertisementThe news was first reported by Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman and TSN's Pierre LeBrun on Friday morning. It was confirmed by the Jets. "I'm grateful to be making my return to the NHL with the Winnipeg Jets," Toews said.
