A North Dakota man and woman were arrested after a police pursuit on Tuesday that originated in Bismarck and eventually ended in Mandan. Dylan Carry Moccasin, 30, of Porcupine, was charged in Morton County with fleeing a police officer, reckless endangerment, driving on a suspended license and refusal to halt. The fleeing and reckless endangerment charges each carry up to five years in prison, while the driving under suspension charge carries up to nearly a year in jail.

A Bismarck man charged with sex crimes involving two juveniles pleaded not guilty Wednesday. Matthew Sabot faces four gross sexual imposition charges, one of which carries up to life in prison without the possibility of parole, as well as a mandatory minimum sentence of five years in prison and registration as a sex offender. The other charges carry up to 20 years in prison.

A Bismarck man facing a felony drug charge after a search of a parked car in April pleaded not guilty on Tuesday. Brandon Morrell Westergard is charged with one count of possession with intent to deliver meth, which carries up to 10 years in prison if convicted. He also pleaded not guilty to a misdemeanor charge of possession of marijuana, which carries up to 30 days in jail.

A former Bismarck man accused in a 1991 sexual assault has been ordered to undergo a mental evaluation following a request by his defense attorney. Gerald Mays, 62, is charged with one count of sexual assault, according to a criminal complaint filed on Nov. 12, 1991. The charge carries up to 10 years in prison. Mays' attorney Justin Balzer requested last week that the evaluation be completed at the State Hospital in Jamestown. The request was approved Tuesday, according to court documents.

A Morton County jury returned verdicts of not guilty in the case of an Almont man accused of shooting his ex-wife in the leg with a shotgun. Kelly Dittus, 59, was acquitted Wednesday, May 14, on felony charges of reckless endangerment and aggravated assault following a trial that began the day before in Mandan. Dittus was also found innocent of a misdemeanor charge of unlawful discharge of a firearm within Almont city limits.
