The event is an open house during which women can receive mammograms while also enjoying snacks and more to be served from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 2000 Campbell Drive, Torrington. Scheduled appointments and walk-ins are welcome. Enter at the north entrance. Most insurance companies cover 100% of the cost of screening mammograms.

    The Gering City Band will resume a summer of concerts and rehearsals are scheduled to begin next week. In a press release, director Randy Raines said nearly 50 players participated in the bands final Concert in the Park during the 2024 season. It will be Raines' 28th year leading the band. Concerts will be held each Thursday, beginning June 5, at 7 p.m., held at the Western Nebraska Veterans Home.

    Terrytown's first mayor, Kent Greenwalt, died Sunday, May 24, at the age of 86  at the Poudre Valley Hospital in Fort Collins, Colorado. In 2006, Greenwalt became the first mayor of Terryown, elected after the community qualified to for second class city status. Prior to a 2006 annexation of several surrounding areas, the community had been a village. Greenwalt served as mayor until he retired in 2018 and continued to attend council meetings regularly and volunteer in the community.

    Panhandle Public Health District has released that a measles case has been confirmed in the Panhandle. According to the release on Tuesday, a confirmed measles case "in an age-appropriately vaccinated child" had been reported to PPHD and the  Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS). The child, who lives in Sheridan County, has had no recent out-of-state travel history identified.

    A federal grand jury has indicted a Bayard man on charges of conspiracy to produce child pornography, according to information released Friday by the U.S. Attorney for the District of Nebraska. Robert Crable, Jr., 59, of Bayard, Nebraska, has been charged in a four-count Indictment. Count I charges Crable with conspiracy to produce child pornography beginning on or about Nov. 27, 2023, and continuing until on or about May 20, 2024.
