LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) - Above average temperatures have returned and will remain in place into next week. Rain chances are looking slim to none until Sunday. Heat index values look to reach and exceed 100 Sunday through the first half of next week. The sky will be hazy the next couple of days due to smoke from wildfires in the Pacific Northwest and Canada in our area. That smoke should remain mainly aloft. Areas of patchy fog are possible early Thursday.

LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) - A streak of above average high temperatures looks to begin Wednesday. Rain chances are looking slim through end of this week. The beginning of next week should be hot and humid with heat index values potentially 100 to 105. There could be some areas of patchy fog early Wednesday. The bulk of the day should be mostly sunny to partly cloudy, hotter and muggy. It may be hazy too with wildfire smoke from the Pacific Northwest and Canada in the region.

LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) - Isolated to scattered showers and thunderstorms are possible throughout the day. Below average temperatures look to continue for a few more days. The second half of this week should be hot and mainly dry. Areas of fog are likely this morning. Otherwise, today will be partly to mostly cloudy with a 30% chance of scattered showers and thunderstorms. There is not a widespread risk of severe weather, but a few isolated severe storms can’t be ruled out.

LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) - Triple digits temperatures will return Saturday and Sunday for most of Nebraska. For some locations, the triple digit high temperatures could continue into Monday. A cold front should move through the area Monday into Monday night. This will lead to a much cooler Tuesday and middle of next week. While there could be a few isolated showers and thunderstorms this weekend, there are better chances for rain Tuesday and Wednesday of next week.

LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) - Above average temperatures and dangerous heat are in the forecast for Friday through Monday. Rain chances are looking slim for the weekend and early next week. Below average temperatures and better chances for showers and thunderstorms should return next week. Friday will be mostly sunny to partly cloudy, hot and humid with a 20% chance of isolated showers and thunderstorms. There could be some isolated severe thunderstorms in part of Western Nebraska and the panhandle.
