Bronson softball sweeps Stockbridge behind one-hitter

BRONSON — The Bronson softball team earned a pair of wins on Tuesday night. The victories improve the Vikings to 16-8 overall, they are 12-0 in league play with wins over Stockbridge at 8-0 and 14-3. "Another good night in the league. We had to fight back the second game as we were down going into the fourth inning," Bronson coach Becky Gray said.

ST. JOSEPH COUNTY — It is time once again for the St. Joseph County track and field honor roll. This is the fourth week for the seedings, which are updated each week. This year, Mendon High School will be the host site for the annual event, which will take place on May 27. The top eight athletes in each event throughout the county will compete in the all-star matchup. The event is not a scored event, but there is one male and female who earn the prestigious Baker MVP award based on their finishes.
Sturgis tennis finishes third overall in conference standings

STURGIS — The Edwardsburg tennis team won a Wolverine Conference championship on Saturday in Sturgis. The Trojans hosted the event at Augspurger Courts. The Eddies won with 53 tournament points, they also won the overall season standings. Vicksburg finished second Saturday with 51 points, that put them at 27 for the season (second). Sturgis scored 47 points on Saturday (fourth) and finished with 23 total to place third for the season. Sturgis had a pair of flight winners.

THREE RIVERS — The Sturgis girls and Three Rivers boys claimed Wolverine Conference championships on Friday. The sun-splashed complex at Three Rivers High School hosted the annual event this year. The SHS girls posted 185 total points, Otsego was a distant second with 125. Three Rivers scored 149.5 total points for the boys, finishing ahead of Otsego's 117. Doubles matches help give Sturgis Trojans tennis road win at St. Joe

ST. JOSEPH — The Sturgis tennis team went on the road Monday with a tough task at hand. The Trojans came back home, however, with a victory over St. Joseph by a 5-3 score in non-conference action. Doubles proved to be a big part of the Trojan win as Sturgis logged victories in three of the four flights. Bella Currier and Arianna Terwedo won their match at first doubles over Zoey Owens and Charlotte Corifer with a score of 6-2, 6-2.

THREE RIVERS — A late goal in each half by Three Rivers gave the Wildcats a home victory over Sturgis on Monday in girls soccer. Three Rivers was playing host to the visiting Trojans on the turf pitch and won the contest, 2-0. The victory improves the Wildcats to 6-5-3 and it is the teams second win in as many matches following a win over Dowagiac, 6-3, the other day. The loss for Sturgis ended a two-game winning streak for the Trojans, who are now 5-9-1.

CENTREVILLE - Centreville High School hosted its annual track and field invitational on Saturday with plenty of schools in attendance. Gobles posted 1,061 total points to win the girls event. Centreville finished second at 936 and Constantine finished third with 679. White Pigeon placed fourth at 591, Mendon was sixth 460 and Bronson came in seventh with 380. Marcellus took ninth with 298. For the boys, Centreville posted 1,076 points to win.
