Otsiningo Park has been transformed into the ultimate display of holiday cheer to light up the dark nights of winter. With more than 2 million lights and multiple displays, people can expect to have a shining experience at the 5th annual Broome County Festival of Lights. Event director David Pessagno said the festival began as a way to get people out during the COVID pandemic.

If you have been out at night and have seen a red or green glow off to the north or east, you may have been seeing the Northern Lights. The lights, also known as the aurora borealis, are not often seen in our part of the country. But thanks to recent activity on the sun’s surface, the lights have been visible as far south as Arizona.

New York City has expanded its rental vouchers program to extend beyond the city limits. Some Southern Tier counties, including Broome, Chemung and Schuyler counties, have issued emergency orders blocking the use of those vouchers.
