ENDWELL, N.Y. (WBNG) -- On May 8, after-school programs at Maine Endwell Middle School ended, and sixth grader Brayson Potter got on his bus home. Potter began repeatedly tapping on his friend’s shoulder. When he did not stop after being asked by the bus driver, he was unprepared for what happened next. “The bus driver said, ‘Brayson, if you do not stop, you’re going to get kicked off the bus,’” Brayson’s father, Brandon, recounted.

A memorial parade was held in honor of lifelong resident Michael Crandall, who died last week at age 61 in a motorcycle crash. Hundreds who came to support their friend on May 7 reminded the Crandall family of his impact on the community. “It really helped us realize that we’re not alone in our grief,” said Crandall’’s older sister Susan Ranous.

Senator Kirsten Gillibrand said that because of federal cuts, first responders throughout the state have been having trouble accessing the World Trade Center health program. The World Trade Center health program provides treatment and monitors health for responders and survivors of the 9/11 attacks.
