Spencer Cox got a crash course as an electrician Wednesday: wiring a light fixture, bending a metal conduit and watching a hot dog be fried with 120 volts of electricity during a tour of a West Jordan apprenticeship training facility. Dozens of students laughed when the governor said a series of trigonometry equations written on the whiteboard are why he went to law school, and they applauded as he flipped a switch, successfully illuminating a light bulb he wired.

The district is looking at possibly closing elementary schools on the district’s east side from among a list of ten schools, including: Cottonwood, Crestview, Driggs, Eastwood, Morningside, Oakridge, Oakwood, William Penn, Rosecrest, and Upland Terrace Elementaries. Parents have a chance to weigh in on it Wednesday night.

    SALT LAKE CITY — Former President Joe Biden’s prostate cancer diagnosis has brought an old conversation to the forefront of headlines, and it’s one that men in Utah need to hear, because right now, they have nearly the highest death rates for prostate cancer in the U.S.According to the Huntsman Cancer Institute, one in eight Utah men will be diagnosed with prostate cancer in their lifetime, with roughly 2,000 to 3,000 new men diagnosed every year.
