MENOMINEE, Mich. (WBUP/WJMN) - Menominee Police Department (MPD) is warning the public of an "aggressive" dog still at large following an incident near an elementary school on Thursday. According to a press release from MPD, on February 6, officers responded to a report of two aggressive pit bulls near Menominee Elementary School after the school resource officer alerted dispatch that the dogs were at the playground barking at children aggressively.

NAHMA TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WBUP/WJMN) - A Delta County man has been arrested on multiple charges, after evading law enforcement. According to Delta County Sheriff's Office (DCSO), on Friday, January 31 at approximately 4:00 p.m., DCSO deputies attempted to make a traffic stop on LL Road in Nahma Township. The driver of the vehicle, Brandon Dickerson, was wanted on several warrants. Dickerson failed to stop, and a pursuit was initiated.

MARQUETTE, Mich. (WJMN) – Northern Michigan University’s Regional Police Academy held its scenario training on Thursday at the Jacobetti Complex. Scenario training allows the recruits to use the knowledge they’ve learned in the classroom and apply it to real life situations. NMU’s Regional Police Academy is a 16-week, 800-hour police training school designed to provide basic law enforcement training to employed and pre-employed recruits.

MARQUETTE, Mich. (WJMN) – An event was held Wednesday at the Noquemanon Trail Network’s (NTN) South Trails trailhead in Marquette to discuss a non-motorized strategic trails plan. The plan found that over $41.5 million is generated by trail events and visits each year to Marquette County’s 900 miles of trails. During the pandemic, trail usage increased by 20 percent. This surge in trail use has increased resource demands, challenging existing management and maintenance capacities.

MACKINAC COUNTY, Mich. (WJMN) – Five people and a dog are safe after being rescued by the U.S. Coast Guard on Friday afternoon. After 2 p.m. on August 9, Coast Guard Sector Northern Great Lakes received a report from Mackinac County Dispatch of a capsized vessel with multiple people in the water, including children, approximately 200 yards off the Grand Hotel on Mackinac Island. The Coast Guard responded to the scene along with Mackinac Marine Rescue and Shepler’s Ferry Wyandot.
