In response to the lull in border traffic, local businesses in Seattle are launching a new effort to bring tourists back, just ahead of next week’s Blue Jays–Mariners series. Some hotels, restaurants, and attractions are offering 30% discounts to Canadians as part of the new “Open Arms for Canada” campaign.

    SEATTLE — Seattle City Attorney Ann Davison is raising concerns over a new executive order signed by President Donald Trump which targets sanctuary cities and states. The order, signed April 28, also directs the U.S. Department of Justice to compile a list of jurisdictions that federal officials say are obstructing immigration enforcement. Cities and states on that list could face the loss of federal funding. Davison said the order is more than a political statement — it's a legal threat.

The owner, Chelsea Coryell is holding off on raising prices for as long as she can — hoping to keep her customers and her store’s vision intact. However,  with tariffs stacking up, Coryell is caught between rising costs and loyal customers. “I have so much to teach people about how they can have design,” she said.
