Redfish Lake Lodge owners grateful for community support following closure

STANLEY, Idaho (KMVT/KSVT) — The Redfish Lake Recreation Complex is back open after closing due to a wildfire in the area. The Bench Lake Fire started almost three weeks ago, burning about 2,600 acres. Fire crews now have it mostly contained, allowing the complex to reopen over the past few days. The owners say guests started trickling in this week, starting with those who had reservations, followed by the general public on Tuesday.
Boise State begins fall camp on Wednesday

BOISE, Idaho (KMVT/KSVT) — With fall camp set to begin on Wednesday for Boise State, head coach Spencer Danielson met with the media Monday to talk about the excitement building around Bronco Football. It’s also hard to believe that Wednesday marks the one-month mark before kickoff at Georgia Southern. Coach Danielson provided some injury updates, freshman tight end Kade Anderson is out for the season with a pre-existing knee injury.
Idaho law enforcement agencies to combat aggressive driving

BOISE, Idaho (KMVT/KSVT) — Idaho State Police as well as 50-plus agencies are participating in a statewide campaign to combat aggressive driving. Starting Friday through August 11th, law enforcement will increase patrols to target and mitigate dangerous driving behavior. According to data from the Idaho Office of Highway Safety, aggressive driving contributed to nearly 14,000 crashes and 103 fatalities in 2023. This produced 27% of all traffic fatalities in the state.
Open Primaries Initiative to appear in November ballot

BOISE, Idaho (KMVT/KSVT) — Expect to see the Idahoans for Open Primaries initiative on the November ballot. The Idaho Secretary of State’s Office made the announcement Wednesday. The office issued a letter of acceptance, certifying the initiative has met the required threshold of 62,895 valid petition signatures. The number carries meaning, as it equals 6% of the total registered voters from the last general election.
Twin Falls Fire Department responds to fires

TWIN FALLS, Idaho (KMVT/KSVT) — Crews responded to a brush fire on Thursday, just after 9:30 p.m., across the street from the KMVT studios, at 1117 Blue Lakes Boulevard North. The brush fire was outside Wilson-Bates Discount Furniture Center. We captured footage from our sky cam, positioned on top of our roof. No word yet on the cause of the blaze, but it’s most likely due to fireworks. Meanwhile, a fire ignited at 10:42 p.m. at 1525 Highland Avenue East.
Twin Falls Police investigate shooting at Fawnbrook Apartments

TWIN FALLS, Idaho (KMVT/KSVT) — Twin Falls Police officers rushed to the Fawnbrook Apartments Wednesday evening for a report of a shooting. The incident occurred just before 7:30 p.m. outside Building I. We spoke with Sgt. Eric Barzee who didn’t know how many suspects are involved or what led to the shooting. Due to a patrol unit at Target, an officer was quickly able to head to the scene and render aide to the victim. He was transported to St. Luke’s Magic Valley and his condition is unknown.
Ridley’s Family Market evacuated due to potential fire

JEROME, Idaho (KMVT/KSVT) — A grocery store in Jerome was evacuated Tuesday afternoon due to some potential electric wiring issues. According to the Jerome Fire Department, they were dispatched around 4:07 p.m. to Ridley’s Family Market after receiving reports of a smell that could be connected to a potential fire. On arrival, the fire department could not find anything, but they could smell the smoke in different areas of the grocery store after they made all shoppers and employees evacuate.
Twin Falls man facing rape, sexually exploitative material of a child charges

TWIN FALLS, Idaho (KMVT/KSVT) — A local man is facing a slew of felony charges, including rape and sexual exploitation of a child. 18-year-old Kody Reed made his initial appearance in felony magistrate court Wednesday for aggravated assault and rape. According to court documents, Reed allegedly went to the victim’s house, who was a friend from school, wearing a firearm around his belt.
Twin Falls Police searching for missing teenager

TWIN FALLS, Idaho (KMVT/KSVT) — Local law enforcement needs your help in finding a missing teenager. Harkin Burgess, 16, was last seen at Canyon Ridge High School on Tuesday, just after 8 a.m.According to the Twin Falls Police Department, he might be in the company of another boy. Burgess is 5′6′ tall, weighs 138 pounds, has dark brown hair and blue eyes. His mother told KMVT he may also go by the names, Timmy, Timothy, or Caleb.
