STANLEY, Idaho (KMVT/KSVT) — The Redfish Lake Recreation Complex is back open after closing due to a wildfire in the area. The Bench Lake Fire started almost three weeks ago, burning about 2,600 acres. Fire crews now have it mostly contained, allowing the complex to reopen over the past few days. The owners say guests started trickling in this week, starting with those who had reservations, followed by the general public on Tuesday.

BOISE, Idaho (KMVT/KSVT) — Idaho State Police as well as 50-plus agencies are participating in a statewide campaign to combat aggressive driving. Starting Friday through August 11th, law enforcement will increase patrols to target and mitigate dangerous driving behavior. According to data from the Idaho Office of Highway Safety, aggressive driving contributed to nearly 14,000 crashes and 103 fatalities in 2023. This produced 27% of all traffic fatalities in the state.

BOISE, Idaho (KMVT/KSVT) — Expect to see the Idahoans for Open Primaries initiative on the November ballot. The Idaho Secretary of State’s Office made the announcement Wednesday. The office issued a letter of acceptance, certifying the initiative has met the required threshold of 62,895 valid petition signatures. The number carries meaning, as it equals 6% of the total registered voters from the last general election.
