    VALE – The Malheur Enterprise, one of the state’s oldest, rural newspapers, announced earlier this month it would cease operations.    In an online story on the Malheur Enterprise website May 6, owner and publisher Les Zaitz, 69, wrote he and his wife, Scotta Callister, 72, planned to retire and focus on family and friends. Callister initially served as the paper’s publisher.

    NEW PLYMOUTH – Brandon Shippy said last week his first full tenure at the Idaho Legislature proved to be successful as he was able to push through several key pieces of legislation.  The New Plymouth state senator, who represents Idaho’s District 9, which includes Washington County, said he “felt like we got a lot of good done.”  “It was a good session overall and I thought it went well,” he said.
