KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Service Employees International Union (SEIU) Local 1 maintenance workers at Worlds of Fun, Oceans of Fun, and Worlds of Fun Village voted to authorize a strike after months of unsuccessful contract negotiations. According to SEIU, the contract expired on Feb. 29, 2024, and impacts the maintenance workers who build, maintain, repair, and conduct daily inspections of the roller coasters, flat rides, and other facilities at the Kansas City, Missouri, amusement park.

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Heart to Heart International plans to send an advance team to Florida on Friday to help with Hurricane Helene disaster relief efforts. The Associated Press reported at noon Thursday Helene is a Category 2 hurricane with wind speeds of 105 mph. It is expected to make landfall on Florida's Big Bend this evening as at least a Category 3 hurricane, bringing the risk of devastating damage.
