The Frederick County Sheriff’s Office (FCSO) is looking for at least two men suspected of being involved in the fatal hit-and-run of a 29-year-old Winchester man on Monday evening. Payton Dixon III was struck and killed after exiting his vehicle at a red light and getting into a physical altercation with another man at the intersection of Front Royal Pike (U.S. 522 South) and Maranto Manor Drive, according to a Sheriff’s Office media release.

WINCHESTER — A Winchester man convicted of raping and sodomizing one of his wife’s grandchildren will spend the rest of his life behind bars following an emotional hearing Tuesday in Winchester Circuit Court. Hylton Matthew Walker was sentenced to two consecutive life terms in prison for abusing the victim, who was just 7 years old at the time.

WINCHESTER — A Winchester man accused of firing multiple shots at a neighbor’s home and vehicle Sunday afternoon has been denied bond. Richard Stephen Moreland, 63, was ordered held without bond Tuesday in Winchester General District Court by Judge Mary Costello Daniel. He is being held at the Northwestern Regional Adult Detention Center.

WINCHESTER — An 18-year-old Winchester man is facing multiple charges after a crash Friday left a juvenile hospitalized. Abner Vidal Santiago Peralta, of the 1200 block of Haines Drive, was denied bond Monday in Winchester General District Court. He is charged with felony counts of maiming while driving under the influence and destruction of property, along with misdemeanor counts of driving while intoxicated, purchasing alcohol for a minor and reckless driving.

WINCHESTER — A Bentonville woman is being held without bond after allegedly grabbing a police officer’s taser and attempting to take his firearm during a traffic stop Friday evening in Winchester. Chelsey Dawn Henry, 30, of the 4400 block of Stonewall Jackson Highway, is charged with two felony counts of attempting to disarm a law enforcement officer and one felony count of assaulting a police officer. She also faces misdemeanor charges of obstruction and reckless driving.
