This evening, the LAX/Metro Transit Center Station will begin providing the best public transportation access to the airport that Southern Californians have ever had. (KTLA) — Federal immigration agents raided several locations in the downtown Los Angeles area on Friday, apparently detaining dozens of people while encountering protesters. At a Home Depot in the Westlake District near downtown Los Angeles, masked officers wearing vests emblazoned with HSI — an acronym for Homeland Security Investigations — were seen taking people into custody.

The man accused of killing a woman in unincorporated Ventura County last weekend has been charged in that slaying and in a separate homicide two years ago, prosecutors said. Christian Alexandre Hillairet, 25, faces two counts of murder, one for the death of Carolyn Nino De Rivera on May 31 and another for the 2023 death of Ventura resident William Thompson, the Ventura County District Attorney’s Office said in a news release.

Two foreign nationals are accused of stalking a Los Angeles artist who is a critic of Chinese President Xi Jinping. “Cui Guanghai, 43, of China, and John Miller, 63, of the U.K. and a U.S. lawful permanent resident, were charged with interstate stalking, conspiracy to commit interstate stalking, smuggling and violating the Arms Export Control Act,” the Los Angeles Times reports, citing information from the U.S. Department of Justice.
