Manayunk, until now, had one great pizza shop (looking at you, Pizza Jawn) and an ever-growing roster of so-so ones. But with its deliciously light yet charred, thin-crust, New Haven-style pizza, Eda’s is primed to crack the list of the neighborhood’s go-tos. With classics like margherita and specialties like potato and rosemary or clam with thick-cut bacon on the menu, it can be hard to choose which to go for. But every pizza we’ve tried is a good, cheesy bet.

If first impressions were true, then walking into this Thai restaurant in Midtown Village would tell you everything you need to know. It’s massive, has a long bar, and is decorated with everything from Buddhist statues to hanging floral garlands. So, yes, it’s good for a big group, having a drink (but skip the rum-overpowered Long Thailand Iced Tea), and chowing down on traditional dishes like massuman curry and khao soi.

It’s important to remember the following when visiting Madira in Point Breeze: Have a few drinks, talk with a stranger about the throwback DeBarge song playing, and get out. Part bar and part Indian restaurant, it delivers on the former. You’ll likely find a game on one of the two TV’s, there are over twenty drafts on the list, and you can sing karaoke on Sundays.

Lion Sports Bar in Chinatown has Happy Hour daily and during the late-night hours (10pm-12am) on Sunday, Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday. There’s also free karaoke on Wednesday nights, if the Phillies game, wings, and fries aren’t enough entertainment for you. We haven’t been here yet, but want you to know this spot exists.

Skinny Joey’s is a sandwich shop just around the corner from the stadiums owned by well-known Philadelphian Joey Merlino. Expect a menu full of handheld, tried-and-true classics like cheesesteaks (chicken and ribeye), panzerotti, and roast pork sandwiches. We haven’t been here yet, but want you to know this spot exists.

Correct.

Before a Philly person tell you where to get a cheesesteak from they make sure to tell you DON’T GET ONE FROM PAT’S OR GENO’S.
