Presented by North Carolina governors, the award is North Carolina’s highest civilian honor.     The Craven County Sheriff’s Office and New Bern Police Department are investigating a potential link between two shootings that left two men injured in New Bern Saturday. The sheriff’s office responded to the first shooting at about 9:30 p.m., within the 700 block of Dry Monia Road, according to investigator Mike Sawyer with the Craven County Sheriff’s Office.

    For the first time, all student artwork from the Congressional Art Competition in the 3rd Congressional District will be on display at the federal courthouse in New Bern. Each spring, the Congressional Art Institute sponsors a nationwide high school visual art competition to encourage and recognize artistic talent nationwide. Students submit entries to their representative’s office and panels of district artists select the winning entries.
