    LORAIN — After a six-year hiatus, Lorain’s Cinco de Mayo parade returns May 3. This year’s parade will step off from Oakwood Park, snaking its way through south Lorain to end at Mexican Mutual, where the nearly 97-year-old social club will open its doors to the public for food, music and other festivities. Parade chairman Martin Leibas said this will be the first Cinco de Mayo parade held in the city since 2019.

    Lorain Police Sergeant on leave, under investigation for off-duty crashLORAIN — A Lorain police officer is on paid administrative leave after allegedly leaving the scene of a vehicle crash that left two civilians’ cars heavily damaged. Sgt. Eric Rivera was placed on leave late last week after reportedly crashing his police cruiser, a 2020 Dodge Charger, into two vehicles and a shed off Long Avenue and West Ninth Street shortly before 11 p.m. April 17.
