The Falmouth School Board is asking for public input as it searches for a new superintendent. The board has created several ways for the public to participate in its needs assessment process: There is a survey at surveymonkey.com/r/HSRSTGX, which will be open for input through Thursday, Feb. 13. The board is also holding three virtual focus groups: Tuesday, Feb. 11, at 9:30 a.m. and 6:30 p.m.; and Wednesday, Feb.

A program exploring the ecology and habitats of Scarborough Marsh will be presented by Linda Woodard, director of the Scarborough Marsh Audubon Center, on Sunday, Feb. 2 beginning at 2 p.m. at the First Congregational Church located at 167 Black Point Road in Scarborough. The program is sponsored by the Scarborough Historical Society. It will dive into the exciting world of the Scarborough Marsh, looking at animals, people, and how the land has changed.

Rory Sweeting, an experienced reporter from western Massachusetts, has joined the staff at the Lakes Region Weekly as a reporter. Sweeting previously reported for the Greenfield Recorder in Greenfield, Massachusetts, and the Deerfield Valley News in Wilmington, Vermont. He holds a bachelor’s degree in professional and creative writing from Goucher College in Maryland. “I have a deep attachment to rural New England and I’m excited to share the stories of the people of the Lakes Region,” he said.
