Two juveniles were detailed by Belleville Police after officers responded to multiple reports of shots being fired near Dale Allen Drive and Chaucer Drive Tuesday night. Officers found two unoccupied parked cars that had .been struck by gunfire when they arrived on the scene, Belleville Master Sgt. Dan Collins said. Other evidence was recovered at the scene, Collins said without specifics. There were no reported injuries.

Flames and billowing smoke from a massive fire at a wooden pallet company in East St. Louis overtook the skies early Tuesday morning. East St. Louis Fire Chief Derrick Burns said battling the blaze "is extremely challenging" because of the intense fire and high winds. Firefighters responded to the 300 block of South Main Street at 1:30 a.m."It came in as a pallet fire," Burns said.

A veteran East St. Louis police officer changed his plea on criminal charges of official misconduct and aggravated battery in connection with the arrest of a teenager in October of 2023. The former sergeant, Keith Randolph, 49, was charged in St. Clair County State Circuit Court with two felony counts of aggravated battery and two felony counts of official misconduct. Almost a year to the day after telling a judge he was not guilty, he changed his plea to guilty.

A high-ranking officer of a metro-east bank has been indicted in the U.S. Court for the Southern District of Illinois on charges of bank fraud and theft. Andrew P. Blassie, an executive vice president at the Bank of O'Fallon and Security First Bancshares Inc., was formally accused by a grand jury on Tuesday of using more than $1.97 million of the bank's funds to pay personal debts.
