Chris McCartt became the City Manager of Kingsport in 2019. Some of the top priorities he wanted to address in the beginning of his tenure were housing, infrastructure and economic development. Over the last six years, he says the city has made great strides in improving economic development at some key areas in the city. "The Kingsport Pavilion at over 95% occupancy not even from day one has it been 95% occupied," said McCartt.

The City of Kingsport hosted its 13th annual Public Works Day on Friday at the Kingsport Farmers Market. The event takes part during National Public Works Week. It allows the city to showcase all the services it provides to residents. Close to 50 different pieces of equipment were on display. Kids were able to get behind the wheel of various vehicles or take a ride in the back of a bucket truck.

The Bristol State Liners will be calling Tod Houston Field in Bristol, Tennessee their new home. The city of Bristol, Tennessee, Boyd Sports, which owns the State Liners, and Bristol, Tennessee City Schools agreed to a new operating agreement that will allow the State Liners to play at the current home of Tennessee High baseball. The agreement calls for Boyd Sports to contribute $2 million, the school system $1.5 million and the city $5 million towards the project to renovate the existing stadium.

The 2nd annual Dyer-Rutherford Excellence in Mentorship Award Gala was held on Tuesday night at the Bristol Hotel. The award was started by Sullivan East grad Travis Vance. He graduated from East in 2000 and wanted to give back to his community. Five current or former employees of the East zone were chosen as finalists for the award, which is named after former East coaches John Dyer and Dave Rutherford.

The Elizabethton Golf Course is back open for business after it was closed for nearly six months following Helene. Head pro Euggie Jones describes what he saw when he returned to the course the day after Helene hit the region. "There was just debris everywhere. Once we got out and cleaned up the golf course, luckily the tees, fairways and greens wasn’t really in bad shape. It washed all the bunkers out. They were in pretty bad shape.
