Much loved motorcyclist Gerard O'Brien, from Freemount, Cork, sadly lost his life following a on the R634 at Ballydasoon near Youghal on Saturday. Residential burglaries dropped by 75 per cent during the winter phase in 2024 and 2025 compared to 10 years ago, during the winter phase in 2014 and 2015, new Garda figures have shown. Residential burglaries in the 2024/2025 winter phase represents an average of approximately 17 burglaries per day across the 26 counties, or less than one residential burglary per day per county.
