West Dunbartonshire council concerned over battery storage plan for greenbelt

West Dunbartonshire Councillors have continued to object to proposals for a battery storage plant in its neighbouring local authority. Members of the planning committee were asked to approve the energy storage unit on a nearby greenbelt site in Bearsden despite concerns about biodiversity. Proposals for the site, situated at Cochno Road, Bearsden, would include a 560MW energy storage system with a substation, security fencing, CCTV, security lighting and operate over 40 years.

Glasgow councillors have welcomed a campaign encouraging women in politics to stand up to unacceptable behaviour. COSLA (Convention of Scottish Local Authorities) wants to recognise and celebrate the role and contribution of female leaders in local government while recognising some of the barriers women face to elected office and leadership roles. The organisation also wants to encourage more women and girls to see themselves as future leaders in local government.
