Spencer, Iowa (KCAU) — Rural communities usually have access to general medical care, but the Spencer Hospital has a therapy only offered by much larger hospitals. The wound care clinic at the Spencer hospital has a hyperbaric oxygen therapy. By breathing 100 percent oxygen in a pressurized chamber, patients with specific types of injuries can heal better. Hyperbaric therapies require specialized equipment and trained personnel, because it can be dangerous if not done by medical professionals.

SPENCER, Iowa (KCAU) — It’s another sign Spencer, Iowa, is on the road to recovery after historic flooding last summer: a health clinic is ready to welcome patients after remodeling. The new clinic is called Priority Health Northwest, the previously named Crowns Clinic. The clinic lost everything in last June’s big flood and unfortunately closed down, leaving patients without help.

Terri Batschelet is KCAU 9’s Remarkable Woman, and you can find more of her story here. In April, she flew to Los Angeles and met with more than 100 women from across the country to celebrate their contributions to their communities and learn who will be named the 2025 Remarkable Woman.

SIOUX CITY, Iowa (KCAU)– A group of teenagers could face charges of animal neglect and abandonment after they were found to be running an illegal dog rescue. According to officials with the Sioux City Animal Adoption and Rescue Center (SCAARC), they received a call regarding dogs in a red-tagged home on the 4200 block of West 23rd Street in Sioux City. Officials entered the property and found six dogs. “There was no dog food at this location.
