SIOUX CITY, Iowa (KCAU) — Camp High Hopes will soon be adding new recreational programming for Youth campers. The adaptive camp for children of all abilities recently received a grant from Variety – The Children’s Charity of Iowa. Camp leaders say they plan to purchase a Z-tag game and a foam machine with the funding, noting the equipment will help kids connect with peers regardless of physical ability while also fostering friendships.

IOWA (KCAU) — Lawmakers have released statements after Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds announced that she vetoed a bill that would have added more requirements to the process of companies using eminent domain to build CO2 pipelines. House File 639 would have made liquid pipeline companies hold informational meetings in every county where property rights will be affected 30 days before filing a petition for a new pipeline.

CORRECTIONVILLE, Iowa (KCAU) — There’s good news for Little Sioux Park visitors. Progress is being made on repairing the boat ramp that was damaged during the historic flooding in June 2024. During Tuesday’s meeting, the Woodbury County Board of Supervisors approved a $65,000 allocation for the repairs. The Federal Emergency Management Agency has already approved the money for the project and will reimburse the county. However, it is not known when that will happen.

SOUTH SIOUX CITY, Neb. (KCAU) — The South Sioux City City Council talked about the Municipal Inland Port Authority on Monday. In 2021, the State of Nebraska approved the Municipal Inland Port Authority Act, which made millions in development funding available for up to five cities. One of those cities is South Sioux City. Right now, the program is at a standstill after the Nebraska Legislature failed to approve funding this year, but that’s not keeping South Sioux City leaders from getting prepared.
