SIOUX CITY, Iowa (KCAU) — The 11th Annual Rockin’ for a Cure Pete Goede ALS Benefit Concert raised more than $40,000 in donations. The concert took place on May 4 at the Anthem inside of the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino Sioux City. The free event had a full day of music along with live and silent auctions. The money will go to the ALS of the Heartland to help out families in the Siouxland area affected by ALS, also known as Lou Gehrig’s disease.

SIOUX CITY, Iowa (KCAU) — It’s something that has been talked about for years, but beginning Wednesday, air travelers will be required to show what’s called a “REAL ID” when going through TSA. This rule isn’t just for major airports, but for small airports such as Sioux City as well.

SIOUX CITY, Iowa (KCAU) — More than 1,000 pieces of art made by students in the Sioux City Community School District were on display on Friday at the Southern Hills Mall. The school district is hosting ArtWorks, which features the work of students stretching from transitional kindergarten through 12th grade. Organizers said being able to use space in the mall gives a large number of people who may have never known about the show are now being educated and entertained.

SIOUX CITY, Iowa (KCAU) — Members of the Siouxland community took to the runway on Wednesday in an effort to raise money for a local non-profit that mentors boys and girls. Big Brothers Big Sisters of Siouxland partnered with Rooted Boutique for a spring fashion show called Fashion for a Cause. People took turns walking the runway, showing off the stylish outfits at The Warrior Hotel. Non-profit officials said there were 150 tickets available for the event.
