ATHENS - He blocked for Georgia quarterbacks David Greene, D.J. Shockley and Matthew Stafford. He coached football with David Perno and Damien Gary. He stayed busy trying to turn two young boys into men. Daniel Inman was a lot of things to a lot of people. All of them agree he is gone much too soon. Inman died Monday after a 10-day hospital stay because of a heart ailment, according to his friends. He was 41.

ATHENS - It's "been a minute" since we've seen Georgia men's basketball in action. But for the Bulldogs (8-1), who resume play Saturday in the Holiday Hoopsgiving tournament at State Farm Arena (6 p.m., SEC Network), that 11-day break might have been a good thing. At least coach Mike White thinks so. "For the first time in a long time, we (had) a chance to focus on us," coach Mike White said after the most recent game, a 69-48 win over Notre Dame on Dec. 3.

ATHENS — Send them back to the Big 12. That was the recommendation of U.S. Rep. Mike Collins (R), who used his time on the floor of the nation’s Capitol Tuesday to advise the Texas Longhorns to head on back to the Big 12 Conference rather than try to make a name for themselves in the rough-and-tumble SEC. Texas accepted an invitation to join Southeastern Conference membership in 2021 and played their first season in the football-centric league this year.
