Stephen Moriarty has been grazing cattle on his family acreage on the Gold Coast hinterland for most of his life. The 59-year-old decided to list his 121-hectare Sarabah property on Hipcamp, an online booking platform like Airbnb, for an extra source of income in 2019. Cr Moriarty, who was elected as a councillor for the Scenic Rim Regional Council (SRRC) last year, said he set up about eight campsites along a creek that ran through the property, charging travellers $25 a night.

David and Gioia Berry aren't your typical octogenarians. Rather than travelling the world, the 81-year-olds have opted to spend their retirement years breaking world records in fitness competitions.
